Many of my pictures are about textures, the details that people sometimes miss or don't look for. I find them more intriguing than the usual postcard pictures taken by visitors to a place.

This archway and its exposed bricks spoke more to me about the age of San Juan Bautista than any sign with dates could tell me. To me, this picture tells the story of the many hardships, rough weather, earthquakes and years the mission has survived. Its beauty tells of the detail and careful thought put into the shaping of the buildings that became San Juan Bautista.
